Childhood Cancer: Six Years Later
Category: Client Story

When Dante developed an ear infection that wouldn’t go away, his mother’s worst fears were confirmed: synovial sarcoma, an extremely rare case of cancer, had set in. In honor of National Cancer Survivor’s Day, Any Baby Can is thrilled to share that six years and multiple procedures after his initial diagnosis, Dante is cancer free!
At Any Baby Can, we recognize that when a child is ill, it affects the whole family. That’s why Dante’s family received case management, resource navigation and support during his fight with cancer.
This summer, two of Dante’s siblings embark on a journey of their own to Camp Grey Dove. This weeklong summer camp is designed specifically for children who have a sibling with cancer served by Any Baby Can. It provides a bonding opportunity, while children explore and process their emotions and learn coping skills. Like any other summer camp, Camp Grey Dove also fosters fun, friendship and adventure.
This year, we celebrate all the children served by Any Baby Can who have won their battle and are in remission. As we continue to serve children and families at Any Baby Can, we are inspired by stories like Dante’s and carry that hope forward.
