Engaging Parents in Their Child’s Development

Many “firsts” happen during a child’s first five years of life: first tooth, first steps, first words, first day of school. These are important years that shape a child’s future. We recognize that a parent is a child’s first and most important teacher, so we partner with parents to improve their confidence and competence.

Healthy and Fair Start

Mom and babyAny Baby Can’s Healthy and Fair Start (HFS) program partners with parents to help their kids learn, grow and reach their full potential. HFS uses a nationally recognized model called Parents as Teachers (PAT), which focuses on creating stable and safe family environments, addressing developmental delays, increasing school readiness and encouraging parental involvement in their school and community.

We work alongside parents to meet their goals, whether they are the child’s goals, family goals, or the parents’ career and education goals.

HFS Provides:

  • In-home visits by a Certified Parent Educator once or twice each month

  • Parent-child activities focused on age-specific milestones that prepare kids for school (socially, emotionally and academically) and promote bonding and attachment

  • Time to talk about and address parenting topics or challenges

  • Access to resources in the community

  • Monthly group events that build community, encourage shared exploration, and introduce parents to local friends and resources

In addition to HFS, Any Baby Can also works with People’s Community Clinic on a program called Tandem that offers the same PAT curriculum specifically for teen parents served by the Clinic.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Travis County residents

  • Child is prenatal to school age

Our team can connect you with a Parent Educator to help improve your parent-child relationship.
